Have you ever traveled with your kids....alone....without help?? This Memorial Day weekend I am traveling with all three kiddos alone, without my husband, without my momma...by myself...out numbered!!! I would say so far it has not been successful since I'm supposed to already be at our final destination and I am typing this from home! We got to the airport in plenty of time, unloaded the car, bagged up the carseats, unfolded the double stroller, strapped the baby into my infant carrier and headed into the airport. Luckily the hubby was there to get us checked in! The line wasn't long, the baby was asleep so I was optimistic that it would be an "easy" day! As I was getting checked in the two older kids (4 and 5 yrs old) were climbing and running around as if they were raised by wild animals! I was trying to focus on getting checked in when I noticed my flight was delayed 30 minutes. I asked the airline agent if I would make my connecting flight and he assured me it should be fine. I was skeptical in my ability to deplane, retrieve the double stroller from being gate checked, stop for the inevitable potty break and make a flight within the now 30 minutes I would have. But I decided to trust his expertise and trek on! We get to security and the TSA agent informs me that we didn't have a boarding pass for the baby and needed to go back to check in and get one..... so I head back to check in to discover we had to wait for a supervisor to override my boarding pass and add the baby (who mind you I had previously informed the airline I would be traveling with an infant). We get everything squared away and then head to security with the stares from the people in line as I pull all the bottles from my diaper bag, explain to my son that his stuffy has to go through the magic machine, throw out the random water bottle that is always in the bottom of my stroller, forget to take off my shoes and have to go back to the "magic machine" as we now call it, to throw my shoes in, finally make it to the other side to wait for TSA to check the diaper bag and bottles. Luckily the TSA agents were very nice and patient with the kids and I! We go to our gate to find out there were no restaurants to eat lunch, only a snack bar that had two hotdogs left and apparently were not able to make any more. So the kids each got a hot dog and I got a soda as my lunch! We finally make it to the waiting area at our gate and I check my email to find out our flight is delayed even longer, meaning we will definitely miss our connecting flight. As I'm on the phone with the airline my kids found an airvent in the floor that was blowing hard enough to shoot paper into the air. Before I knew it they had torn out the paper of an entire spiral and were making a "paper volcano!" They were the only kids in the terminal and I was receiving some of the worst looks but I let them play as I tried to give the baby a bottle and explain to the airline that no I would not wait until 11 pm to fly out and land the next morning at 5am!! So after all this work I was able to get a nonstop flight tomorrow!! After calling the hubby to come back and get us we are home... playing and we'll try again tomorrow!! So as you're on the lake relaxing think of me...traveling...with 3 kids....ALONE!!! =) I of course wouldn't change any of this for the world! I love being a mom, I love that Wild Ponies give me the chance to spend my days with my kiddos and not in a classroom or professional office! I can update the website, write blogs, print UPS labels and answer emails with my 2 month old sleeping on my chest! I couldn't ask for a better life! Thank you for your continued support of our small business! Spread the word and tell your friends about our ponies! They are made with love from a military wife and mom of 3 usually during nap or after bedtime!!
